"SI.com reports that the Dodgers and Red Sox are currently having discussions about Manny Ramirez.
The talks are said to be in the early stages, and there are said to be a number of obstacles that still need to be cleared. The Red Sox are probably looking for Matt Kemp or Andre Ethier, and the Dodgers would like to rid themselves of Andruw Jones' salary."

I heard this too, but I am not sure why this is being mentioned. Do the Dodgers want to get rid of Jones that bad? Do they think $32M for Jones is worse then $40M for Manny? Is it so much worse that they are willing to put in Kemp or Either? This deal makes no sense.

According to Peter Gammons, the Red Sox are in on Rangers catcher Taylor Teagarden. The Rangers have the game's best catching surplus, and it's resulting in plenty of inquiries.

Teagarden, 24, is hitting .234/.348/.404 in 53 Triple A games. He's dealt with elbow soreness in the past, but he's healthy now.

No shock to anyone the Red Sox want a catcher for the future, but what do you think it would take for the Red Sox to Teagarden?

Tampa Bay and Pitt are working out a deal for Jason Bay. 2 prospects Reid Brignac and Jeff Niemann are the names that are being talked about.

So is the L.A. Times.

Maddux will be glad for the chance to get into the post-season.

Several sites are reporting about the possibility of the Red Sox trading Julio Lugo to the Tigers for Dontrelle Willis.

If that deal happens, I would be so pumped. Willis hasnt been any good as a pitcher, but maybe he can figure it out in Boston, plus he is cheaper then Lugo and Lowrie is better then Lugo. I love this deal for the Sox and hope it happens.

WRONG! Willis is not cheaper than Lugo unless you think $22,000,000 is less than $18,000,000

yeah exactly. Willis signed a 3 year 29 mill deal in Spring Training and is owed 22 mill over next 2 years. Lugo is owed 18 mill. With Beckett, Dice K, Lester, Buchh and Masterson around I dont see why Sox would want Willis anyways. This isnt Bartolo Colon where you give up peanuts for him.

I didnt know Willis' contract was that bad. The article said that this deal would be a break even, with the Sox possibly losing money type deal. Maybe the Tigers are gonna send cash with Willis

I dont understand why they would have done that whole X number of at bats gets your option picked up clause. The man is a full time DH, there is a small chance of him being injured there, so the only conceivable way to keep him from hitting that goal would be to bench him. $13MM is alot for Thome, who is an average hitter at this point

I'd go out and celebrate the "magical plate appearance" that bought daddy a Phantom!

They are only 2.5 games in front of Minny for division lead (and a playoff spot) with 3 games against Twins coming up in Minny...
