I have three questions please.
1. First of all, a number of good prospects have hit their IP and AB minimums in my league, and if they go unclaimed for a few more days, they hit the waiver wire: Andy LaRoche, Velez, Headley, Carlos Gonzalez, and Jeff Baker.
In my keeper league, would I be well served to drop Chris Perez (currently in the minors) from my active roster for one of these position players? Gonzalez and LaRoche are the two I like best. I'm more worried about increasing my overall team value: I'm not counting on much from these folks for this year.
2. Another question in my keeper is about Vladimir Guerrero. He's come available, but his declining overall numbers have me scared off a lot. The owner's asked for Bruce/Bradley from me, and while I do need a RF upgrade from Swisher (I'm in 3rd of 12 this year and could stand to make a calculated run at it all), I know that's too rich. Is Bradley plus Volstad or Porcello more like it? I would have Bruce, Swisher, and Damon left for CF if I did the deal. I know Porcello's very highly rated, but I am in a decent shot to make a run for it.
3. Furthering point #2, I've offered Volstad/Thome for Teixiera--a good upgrade for this year and good keeper moving forward. I expect a no, but my question is whether Porcello/Thome is worth it to me. The Tex owner is in 11th or 12th, and picking up the kid (and possibly a third rounder in the prospect draft to push the deal over the top) might make sense to him. With Thome, a pick, and Porcello, can I reasonably aim very highly? Would that package with Damon get me a BJ Upton, maybe?
Thank you very much, folks.

Hi Johnny,
Just curious, how big of a keeper league is this, and how many do you keep. that's an important piece to this inquiry.
1) That being said, I do think Perez is there closer of the future .. whether that's as early as next year .. or in a similar case as broxton, maybe the year after .. Make sure not to short side yourself of that fact.
Now not knowing what your league looks like, the guys I would consider picking up from that bunch is Headley and Gonzalez ... I'd also consider Larouche .. but the Dodgers seem to have the Brandon Wood disease ... they dont know what to do with him at this point. Now whether you drop Perez for either of these guys is up to you.
2) I would hold on to Bruce, No need to trade him and definitley not for Vladdy at this point.
3) Porcello/Thome is not a bad offer .. But again i wish I knew your teams settings and keeper information ... I think Porcello is going to be a good pitcher ... it strictly depends on your settings ...
My gut tells me to hold off though .... I think you can get alittle more for a guy like Tex.

We keep 16, with up to 10 prospects as well.
I would be getting Tex here..... _________________

1. I would be looking to add Laroche and Gonzalez (especially LaRoche) but I wouldnt drop Chris Perez...
2. You dont want to touch Vlad in keepers leaues, especially when he;s asking you part woth someone like Bruce or Porcello... No deal
3. Doubt it goes through BUT Porcello and Thome is a chance. Porcello has a high upside but anything is possible. Its very unlikely that he will flame out but its possible that he doesnt end up as good as advertised. That's a winner for you...

Adding LaRoche is tempting as is dropping Gil Meche BUT you already have 3 batters on the bench. I'm 1 of those people that usually carry 1 batter on the bench, 2 at most... And I wouldnt drop any of the killer B's either (Butler, Bruce and Bradley) - well not quite killer B's but you see where I'm going with this.

LaRoche just got taken before the deadline by his owner....(meaning he added him to his active roster).
Now, Gonzalez is the one I might take.
I'm thinking about some more moderate upgrade-style trades:
1. Volstad and Hoffman for Mariano Rivera
2. Porcello and Damon for BJ Upton
3. Porcello and Dice-K for Haren _________________

Those are the 2 I would be looking at (Upton first and then Haren).

Well, Thome and Porcello for Teixiera got shot down.
Is Porcello and Dice for Haren an upgrade for me? _________________
