It's impossible to intelligently answer this question without knowing league details. How many teams? What is the keeper structure like? How does scoring work? Is it roto or head to head?

Between 1954 and 55, Willie Mays had 32 stolen bases.

Ellsbury has 35 this year alone.

So yeah, DUH.

But anyways, like Koby said, it's impossible to answer this without knowing league details.

As a fantasy player I don't think Ellsbury will ever be a top tier OF. Lets assume this year he continues on pace and goes .265/8/40, 90-100 runs and 50+ SB.

Then lets assume he gets better and pans out well, since he's still 24, his prime years may look something like .280+/10/50, 100-120 runs and 50-60 SB (no he's not gonna be stealing 70 bases a year).

While that production is very good, its not as good as the other young guys that give you a lot of SBs (Reyes, Hanley, Upton, Rios, Kinsler, Grady etc.)

Now look at Carlos Lee. He's the most consistent position player in MLB. If you didn't notice, this year he's quietly 3rd in the majors in RBI and is hitting at a .306/22/80 clip. He's gone 30-110 every year since '03 except for one when he slacked off to 31-99.

The issue is that he's 31. Who knows if he'll keel over at 32 or strive on like A-Rod. This season projects to be his best year ever, so I think he's got maybe 1-2 prime years left before he regresses.

Essentially you're asking to compare polar opposites. Ellsbury will give you R/SB (maybe AVG as he progresses), Lee will give you HR/RBI/AVG. Lee has 1-2 years of prime left, Ellsbury has his whole career. It all depends on whether you want to win now and need HR/RBI, whether you're rebuilding and need a R/SB foundation. Ellsbury will be the best pure R/SB player in the league, miles over guys like Taveras and Pierre. But Carlos Lee is a stud hitter.

I can't actually answer the question because there's no details.
