I think I can get Harden or maybe Halladay from a guy for Zimmerman, Bruce, and Morrow. Should I gamble on Harden staying healthy? Or go for the reliable yet less flashy Halladay? The guy who wants to trade has a ton of SP and wants to deal...here's his team:

c - johjima
1b - thames
2b - cano
3b - youkilis
ss - hardy
of - manny
of - ichiro
of - damon
ut - griffey
b - hairston

sp - halladay
sp - harden
rp - cj wilson
rp - t. jones
p - johan
p - arroyo
p - torres
b - kuo
b - park
b - penny
b - pelfrey
dl - carpenter

What up Richiro.

Normally I'd say any good pitcher other then Harden ,,, but this is actually a tough call cause Roy boy usualy breaks down somewhere around August ... He's not the stirdiest guy around either. I think both are a gamble but Harden will get you slightly better numbers if he lasts the season cause he's in the NL and these hitters are going to have issues with his stuff the first time around.

thanks for the quick reply Biz.

Yeah i'm really not in love with either Harden or Halladay, even though both have pitched great thus far. Think that offer is a good one for me to make for either guy though?

I'd go for Halladay over Harden. You have Kazmir and Hamels, who will offset Halladay's K weakness every week.

what ^^^ said. Harden could be more valuable but he is a bigger risk (much bigger).

I love this K weakness crap about Halladay. He's 3rd in the AL in K's.Just because he doesn't get a K an inning doesn't make it a weakness.Especially when you factor in his IP's, ERA etc........

He needs to K more people than he does to be considered a #1 tier pitcher. His last 3 years he whiffed 139 and 132 in 220+ IP each year... that's terribad. So far this year he's been fanning more, but do you really think he can keep that rate up? Maybe, its a about 7.50 K/9. That would be almost at his 02-03 form, which appeared long gone. He may be 3rd in the AL, but he has 15-30 IP more than everyone else up there, and he can't be expected to go 250+ innings at 31 unless the Jays are idiots. Factoring in his ERA and WHIP etc. has no impact on whether or not K's are a weakness... not sure why you even mentioned that.

But anyway, I'm not knocking Halladay's value. I've owned him basically every year. His ERA/WHIP over the amount of innings he eats make owning him well worth it. But I wouldn't own him if my other pitchers were like... Aaron Cook and Jamie Moyer. Get him Richiro.

At this exact moment in time I think both have value, and from reading comments I like Halladay more then most, but With Harden pitching for such a strong offense and being a part of a top 5 team he has a great chance to really put up some strong numbers assuming the Cubs dont over work him, but they would never do something like that, right?

Poon pretty much summed it up. Halladay was unreal in 2003 (204 K in 266 IP). In 06 and 07 his K-rate dropped considerably. Its back to around 7.5 this year which is quite good but its not helping that Harden's K-rate is betwen 10-11 per 9. There is no doubt in my mind that Harden is a better pitcher BUT only twice in his career so far he has gone over 100 innings in a single season... Do you really believe he will stay healthy for the rest of the year? I wouldnt count on it...

Doc is your man, Richiro...
