This is going to work out great for Benson! He won't have to leave training camp to continue his 'Texas Court House Tour 2008'

Any team that is willing to sign Benson is a good fit for him.

The Oakland Raiders and the Lions are talking about a trade for Lamont Jordan.

I read in three or four places that Jones is completely done. They say he lost a step and half.

That's what I love about the internet age, I can probably find you 3 or 4 articles that say he's as healthy or healthier than before he was hurt. Doesn't matter to me, I never thought he was anything special for Detroit.

Note: In general, Virginia Tech players are overrated coming into the pros. Great college players, but Beamer has a college system that doesn't translate for some reason to the NFL.

Jones may have lost a step but he has always had a pretty nice nose for the end zone, I think it will effect Forte's value.

I wholeheartedly agree with that. At least until Week Two or Three.

Jones can only be considered an insurance policy at this point. Forte was drafted to be the featured back, and that was before Benson's troubles began. Lovie Smith calls Forte a three down back, so he should get most of the work.

I think Jones and/or the other Adrian Peterson are going to get a lot more carries than people think. I know there's a ton of love for Matt Forte, but I'm gonna let you in on a secret -- if Matt Forte was skilled enough to be a feature back in the NFL, he would've a) gone to a better football college and b) been drafted higher. The Bears' O-Line is getting old, the passing game is non-existent meaning lots of tight defensive fronts and their defense isn't holding teams to low points anymore meaning not a lot of running late in games. I'm not saying Forte is going to be a bust, but I honestly don't see him getting more than 1100 yards or 8 tds in any of the next 3 seasons -- he's simply not as talented as his college numbers look, he played in a horrible defensive conference and pilled up a bunch of cheap stats. I see him with a line around 150 carries, 600 yards, 4 tds this season.

Nice assumption investigative reporter. Actually the few places I did see the stories were locally in the paper and on Comcast Sportsnet. He is from Philly so they profiled him and he admitted to not being what he once was. Regardless, I dont think he is anything more than insurance for the later part of the year. I would not be surprised if he was cut in camp.

I've heard that the Bears are putting everyone to the test in training camp. Thus, both Jones and Forte will have to prove themselves, but I see them splitting time in the end.

I am from Detroit and have not heard anything bad about Kevin Jones' recovery. His 40 was timed faster than most RBs at the combine this year. Everything is stating that he is back and the Lions could end up hating themselves for letting him go unless MR Smith is a stud. Time will tell.

Here is what I have seen.

Quote:
Kevin Jones (ACL surgery), who will begin training camp on active/PUP, says he's six pounds overweight.

Jones is at 236 lbs and wants to get to 230. He'll likely ride a bike to shed the weight while on PUP. ESPN's John Clayton seconds a Chicago Sun Times suggestion that Jones could stay on the list into the regular season
