Phillies are looking to spend and their biggest need is 3B... They are looking at Mike Lowell and Garret Atkins.
By the way, Yahoo is reporting that Aaron Rowand may command 84 mill over 6 years and Royals are interested, yes you heard it right... Royals. LOL.

I could find so much more for the royals to throw 84 mil at if they want to improve. lol
How about some more pitching? They started with Meche and Bannister.....continue! _________________

yeah you hit the nail on the head BP ... they have DeJesus at CF and he is very servicable to say the least, but here's the problem - the market isnt too strong for pitching this off season
Some of the better pitchers that could be available are:
Freddy Garcia, Tom Glavine, Randy Wolf, Bartolo Colon, Jason Jennings, Kenny Rogers, Greg Maddux, Curt Schilling, Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens, Tim Wakefield, Josh Fogg .... some these have player options
Its safe to say that Pettite and Wakefield will re-sign with their respective teams, Schilling wants to go to Rays but he could stay with Boston for another run, Glavine will want to pitch for a contender, Clemens will do his normal thing (make up his mind in June lol) plus he would want way too much money, Maddux wants to pitch for a contender as well, I can also see Angels bringing back Colon
so that leaves Garcia, Wolf, Jennings, Rogers and Fogg ... their top priority should be Freddy Garcia
I really hope they shell out money for 1 or 2 of these guys just like they did last year with Gil Meche... combine those 2 with guys like Meche, Bannister and Hochevar and you have half decent rotation.
There are some nice releiver available though and they may shell out money to improve their pen

| I don’t know, I would like that move for KC. Of course sending Aaron Rowand 85M is embarrassing, But players think of KC as a dungeon... and no one ever wants to sign there, they have to start somewhere? ... landing a fairly productive dude like Rowand to compliment some of these good young players would help. And as we know, you sign 1 half decent player, and maybe it changes another players mind about coming there ... (Look at the 06 Blue Jays as reference)

| here's the problem though ... Rowand hit 24 HRs and over .300 in 2004, then he proceeded to hit 25 in both 2005 and 2006 before hitting 27 this year... I'm not quite sold but this screams like a 'career year' to me.

Or breakout year ... He came into the league like a house on fire ... then had an injury .. fell out of favor with the team as a long term solution ... with Rowand, I believe that the talents been there since day 1. Now he has probably played as good as he can in 07 ... but I do think the numbers he put up can stay where they are ....
Hes not a prototypical FA stud, but for the royals, I think he would be a good fit.

Torri Hunter said that if he ends up leaving Minny, he would love to play in either Atlanta and Washington. I really dont see Braves signing him because Big Tex is a free agent next year and they will need to shell out money to him.
Washington has money and he would be huge defensively for them in that park and they would have a bat to protect Zimmerman.
Yankees could fire pitching coach Ron Guidry. Leo Mazzone could be 1 candidate (this guy never should've left Braves in 1st place).

I lump Hunter in with the likes of the Cliff Floyd types in this world,,,,
If I were the Gm, id deal with 6 errors a year when it means i can save 8, 9 mill a year, and find replicable offense not only on mlb waivers but AAA and AA as well,,,,
Call me crazy,,,,many do

Right,,,,
First off,,,,to think giles will fade away is foolhearty and he instantly becomes a deep sleeper pick for dynasty leagues and similar formats,,
Antonelli,,,,
So, who is playing 3-bag in San Diego these days,,
Moreover,,,,I dont see him being a 2B for long-
Ultimately, I see this as the Padres finally realizing that being on the same team as your brother is not gonna suddenly morph you into a superstar,,,
Let us not forget that half of Giles career stats were based upon the success of the guys around him, which , quite obviously was unfounded in Petco, and it showed,,,GLARINGLY!
Nonetheless,,,,if you have a dynasty team or a deep keeper league with prospects , I say give antonelli a whirl even at this early junction,,,
Remeber,,these cheap San Diego middle infielders do play on the road too!
In closing,,,, my sympathy to those who couldnt deal away marcus before this years embarassent,,,including myself,,but at this point,,might as well hold tight and hope he latches on with an AL team,,,
Now, if he latches on in the AL,,,what do you think happens? Poof,,,instantly a pre-season top 10!
The reality of that happening?
Well,,,you didnt think fantasy baseball was THAT easy did you?

apparently San Diego is interested in signing Andrew Jones, 1 year contract for about 15 mill and hope that Jones has a good year and then go after the big money and multi year contract next summer. Jones' agent Scott Boras did the same thing with Jeff Weaver last season.

| I've heard a rumor that Yankees will try to replace A Rod (assuming he doesnt come back) with Marlins' Miguel Cabrera who will be a free agent in 2 years time and may become too expensive for Marlins. They expect couple major league ready players as well as prospects for Cabrera. Yankees can offer Melky Cabrera (CF is Marlins weakness) and prospects like Hughes and Ian Kennedy. Obviously it will take more than that but they do have the pieces to get it done.

Cincy Reds picked up Adam Dunn's contract option for next year worth 13 million, he is now highest paid player on the team (Griffey will earn 12.5 mill next year). They also picked up options for Scott Hatteberg (bad news for Votto) and Javier Valentin. They declined their option for Every Day Eddie Guardado.
Mets picked up Moises Alou's contract option for next year worth 7.5 mill.
