10 teams, roto, keeper, 2nd place, 1.5 pts back from first, 15 pts in front of 3rd.

The one major thing holding me back from retaking 1st place in my roto keeper league is saves.
I primarily use Wagner and Street but that hasnt gotten me enough to gather anything more than just 2 pts.
Back in March I drafted Chamberlain, Marmol, and Broxton near the latter rounds hoping that they could get me boatloads of k's and about 20 saves combined by the end of the season. But that gameplan doesnt look like its going to work because Chamberlain is now starting, Marmol is stuck behind Wood, and Broxton still hasnt gotten his chance with Saito holding down the 9th.

As for the players im willing to trade... I do have five outfielders (Sizemore, Rios, Hawpe, Kemp and Ellsbury), so one of them could do the trick. Besides that on the hitters side of the equation the only other guy Id be willing to part with would have to be Cano because hes sucked so much... but then again selling low on him is an awful idea. I could sell very high on Chipper Jones but then again the guy has been carrying me so its too tough to do.
As for the pitching side of things... I have Hamels, Harang, Maine, Cain, Lilly, Lee, and Chamberlain. Two closers: Wagner and Street. And two MR's: Broxton and Marmol. Id rather try and keep the two MR's because they help with k's, era, and whip more than most people think.

The major thing is that I NEED another closer because saves is the one thing that can really catapult me into first... what do u guys suggest?

I might be the rare individual who values Markakis over Ellsbury, but it's close. Chamberlain is so much more valuable than Saito. I own Saito in my redraft, and I would get laughed at for sure if I tried for Joba for him.

Why not something more inexpensive? Hawpe for Hoffman?

I understand. The values are close. But if I want to have a legit chance at taking over first Im gonna have to take a hit in player for player value and gather the numbers that will get me over the hump. Im looking more at the bottom line and trying to see what stats will actually affect my points. Saves will help tremendously and the hit Im taking by losing Ellsbury and his SBs will only hurt a little bit compared to what I can gain.

Don't overpay for saves, just try getting 1 on the cheap. Someone like Mike Gonzalez or Jason Isringhausen. Mike Gonzalez could still be had for relatively cheap. Izzy would be the guy I would go for.

As for players to trade. Chipper would be on top of my trade list. Do you really think he will stay healthy all year and play as well as he did. I wouldnt trade him for a closer though - even if its the best 1 in the game in K Rod. Cano would be off limits, enjoy his 2nd half. If you are going to trade an OF it would have to be Hawpe - the other 4 would be off limits depending on how many you can keep. But for instance if you dont think you can keep someone like Matt Kemp - he could land you a guy like Cordero, Lidge or Jenks...

I actually accepted the Markakis/Saito deal for Ellsbury/Chamberlain...
I got killed in the long run but Im looking to win it this season...
I need saves and grabbing Saito in particular made sense for my team because if he goes down I have Broxton waiting in the wings.
And I, unlike many other people all of a sudden, would rather have Markakis for the next couple seasons rather than Ellsbury.
Yea sure I lose Chamberlain and anything he may bring to the table from this point forward but you cant win them all and I might as well go for the championship this season rather than trying to set up a competitive team for years to come.
My starting rotation is still solid, although I do need to start producing more W's, but I'll just move either Hawpe for a 2nd tier starter or C. Jones for an ace and then just pray for good health.

Plus, getting 30+ SB's from a part time fantasy player in a half of a season has done enough damage for me in that department that hopefully I can sustain my lead for the rest of the year... 90 SB's already as a team and D. Wright only has 8.

Moving forward...

A team just dropped Wainwright because his squad is experiencing major health issues.
Should I drop Hawpe and add Wainwright even though hes on the DL?

Can you put Wainwright on DL? His injury is lingering and you dont want to play with a dead spot for too long. I'm would do it becuase Hawpe would hardly play for you with guys like Rios, Sizemore, Kemp and Markakis. Healthy Wainwright would add to an already good staff...

Ok. Nice.

I put him on the DL after adding him and then picked up Sean Gallagher.

SWEET.

Wainwright is an underrated stud. I have him in my keeper (Saito is one I own in my keeper, not my redraft, what was I thinking?).

Wainwright's a very nice little pickup here.

I would try a Kemp for Mike Gonzalez before doing that deal.

Wheeler, Marte, and Kobayashi are available.... I now have Wagner, Street, Saito, Morrow, and Broxton. I was intending on dropping Broxton for one of the three potential closers on the WW. WHo should i go with?

Its reported everywhere that Balfour will be the 8th inning guy with Wheeler getting a majority of the saves. Therefore, why Wheeler over Marte?
