Lets hope so. If anyone is expecting Davis to hit for better average they are foolin themselves. Power is his calling card and he will strike out a ton. BA will be in Adam Dunn range... lets hope Rangers realise that and keep him in bigs.

Yeah, I don't think the Rangers aren't committed to Davis, I just don't see where he fits when Blalock gets back (which sounds like soon after the ASB). Can Davis really play 3rd? Can Blalock play some 3rd and they keep Davis up? Either way, it sounds sketchy. I'm hoping Blalock struggles (as unfortunate as that sounds), because I want to see Davis get a solid look in the majors. His average will hover in the .250 - .260 range but he's got serious power. By that token, would you rather have Thames or Davis this year? Thames has serious power and some question marks too.

Hi lioner .. welcome to the UM bud!
Hopefully the Rangers are smart enough to understand that Blalock isnt the answer at 1st base and it's time to let the young guns step in and get some burn.

Is Texas commited to moving Blalock to 1B? It would make more sense in playing him at 3B. Rangers needs Davis' power and that's why I think they will swallow the BA and play him regularly...

Thames easily, he has the LF job and his part of a very good and deep lineup...

Thanks dude. I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I found it a solid analysis of these guys:

"Laporta vs. Gamel vs. Davis"

There's some interesting evidence in there that Davis will keep himself out of Dunn-like low average territory (probably not this year... but it's too early for anyone to tell). Another note about that article is that the Brewers look pretty scary with Gamel if he gets it together at 3rd.

Yeah Lion .. The brew crew system is loaded with gamel leading the way.

Just as an FYI, the UM runs our own top 50 list each month in the minor league section, inter-affiliated with Moundtalk.com
If you are into minor league Baseball ... you may appreciate our monthly list.

and Babe Davis hits another ...
5 Home Runs in 25 MLB AB's zzeeerk

I don't care if this guy's batting .120 ... There's no reason not to give this guy AB's over a very average Hank Blalock.

Texas's managerial fool Ron Washington is saying that when Blalock comes back, he prefers him over Davis at 1st. So it's looking like Babe Davis will hit back AAA over a very average hank Blalock.

Davis Numbers: 47 AB's .237, 5HR, 11RBI's 9Runs

It's a strange move to me.

Well what is he supposed to say. Managers get bad karma for taking away a player's job while he's injured.

Good point ... Will see ... if they send Davis down for Blalock with those numbers they would be fools. Blalock has turned into a 280+ BA 15HR 80RBI guy .. ... that's not appealing for a 1B who wont even play the position well. maybe theyll bring him up to trade him.

I need Davis to stay under 130 ABs this season if possible. Get to keep all ROY eligible players and they don't count against the keeper limit.

Babe Davis hits another in the 3rd inning tonight.
He's on pace to hit 64 home runs in a full 500+ AB season.
