Andrew Bynum will be entering the final year of his rookie contract next season, one that will pay him about $3.7M. The League rules allow the Lakers to negotiate an extension this summer, Bynum said he would take less than a max deal but his agent is saying that Bynum will sign for no less then an 80 million dollar 5 year contract. The Lakers got a decision to make, But is he going to be worth 16 million per season?

The issue with Bynum is his health. He has shown that he could be worth a max extension, but he hasnt shown it for long enough becasue he never stays healthy. I am not sure I would give it to him becasue of the health issues, but you never know.

Is this a serious question? Hell yeah hes worth it. Hes a 20 year old Center who averaged a double double last season. Ok so maybe he is not worth a max deal, but something along the lines of 4yrs/$12M per sounds right. I dont think the biggest question is his health. I think the biggest question is his commitment. Lets not forget that he spend the better part of 2 yrs as Kwame Browns backup. That being said I think hes worth all of 12M per, but another team may try to overpay at 14 or 15 per

I highly doubt any team throws down $14M-$15M on Andrew Bynum. And I guarantee the Lakers dont sign him longterm until he proves that his knee is healed. And if the guy has health AND commitment issues, why would you spend top player money on him? He has the potential to be good, and he has shown flashes of greatness, but I am not sure he is worth max $$$

I dont think he'll get the contract he wants. Does he deserve it? Hell yeah, 7-footers with his talent dont come around too often... And as Stover mentioned, he is only 20 (21 later this year)...

If Bynum gets a max contract, someone needs to be fired. He averaged a double-double for 35 games. I think he needs to prove he can do that for a longer period of time.

Bynum needs to show he can play a full season with his old form after his knee cap surgery. After a successful season, i'm sure he can fetch 10-12 per. If he really is asking for a max deal already as the rumors state, he's out of his mind.

He's really talented physical young center. The Lakers may not have a choice much longer because im sure someone else will tag him the max.
